Felt Christmas Ornaments

Homemade ornaments for your tree are awesome! One of my favorite ornaments I have made are these simple felt stockings and mittens.  My sister and I made this cute felt stocking and mitten for our Christmas tree.  All we did, was get some green, red, and white felt fabric, cut it into the shape we wanted it, sewed it, and voila, you have your ornament!  You can add a button as a decoration to make them even more cute. You can get creative and use these ornaments to decorate other things besides your tree.  One idea is to string a big ribbon across your mantle, and hang a stocking, then a mitten, stocking, mitten, in that pattern on the ribbon, this looks pretty cool if you have a big gold ribbon!  Look below and find out how to make the felt ornaments yourself, and if you do, I would love to hear how you decorated with them!

DIRECTIONS FOR YOUR VERY OWN FELT ORNAMENT

1.  Take two 4x4 pieces of green or red felt fabric and one piece of white.
2.  Cut out the shape of a stocking or mitten, with the two pieces together, then cut the decorative white trim.
3.  For the heart, cut out one small heart, place a button in the middle of it and sew it onto one side of the cut shape.
4.  Use red or green embroidery floss, and first sew the whit felt to the same side of the colored felt as the button and heart.  Then sew the stocking or mitten together using a blanket stitch.
5.  Hang it on your tree!  Below you can see how they look when finished and on the tree.

  2. My mother made these also, and she put magnets on the back of them, and decorated her refrigerator for the holidays.
